**Role Overview**

We are seeking a
**Mid/Senior Backend Engineer**
with deep experience in
**Ruby and Ruby on Rails**
to take a leading role in designing, building, and evolving backend systems for complex fintech and data-driven platforms. In this role, you will own critical backend components, contribute to architectural decisions, and help set engineering standards across projects.

This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving hard problems, taking technical ownership, and building systems that are designed to scale and operate reliably in regulated and high-volume environments.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Lead design and development of backend services using
**Ruby and Ruby on Rails**
- Own critical system components and take responsibility for their reliability and performance
- Design and evolve system architecture in collaboration with tech leads and product teams
- Build and maintain high-quality APIs and backend services
- Implement complex business logic and high-volume data workflows
- Drive best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation
- Perform in-depth code reviews and mentor other engineers
- Identify and address performance, scalability, and reliability bottlenecks
- Contribute to security, auditability, and compliance-aware engineering practices
- Support incident analysis, root cause analysis, and long-term system improvements

**Required Skills & Experience**

- 6+ years of professional backend development experience
- Strong, hands-on experience with
**Ruby**
and
**Ruby on Rails**
in production systems
- Deep understanding of
**relational databases**
(PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling
- Proven experience designing scalable
**RESTful APIs**
and backend architectures
- Experience with
**background processing and distributed systems**
(Sidekiq, Redis, Kafka, etc.)
- Strong testing culture (RSpec, Minitest, TDD/BDD practices)
- Solid understanding of
**application security and data protection best practices**
- Experience working with
**large codebases**
and complex domains



**Nice to Have (Highly Valued)**

- Experience with
**AWS, GCP, or Azure**
in production
- Docker and container orchestration exposure
- CI/CD pipeline ownership or optimization
- Experience with
**microservices or modular monoliths**
- Exposure to
**other backend stacks**
(Node.js, Python, Java, Go)
- Prior experience in
**fintech, payments, financial data, or regulated systems**
