**About The Role:**
We are looking for a Chief Accountant to build and own the accounting function at Nextimox. You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll accounting, and internal controls, making sure our financial records are accurate, on time, and fully compliant with local legislation.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership. **This is a full-time, on-site position based at our office in Prishtina.** You will set up accounting processes from the ground up, be the main contact for tax authorities, auditors, and banks, and grow the accounting team as the company scales.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage all day-to-day accounting, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing process and prepare financial statements in line with local accounting standards and IFRS.
- Prepare and submit all tax declarations, including VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding tax, to the Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK) on time.
- Oversee payroll accounting, including salary calculations, pension contributions, and related filings, together with HR.
- Set up and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls that keep our finances accurate and transparent.
- Prepare regular financial reports for the CEO and coordinate external audits.
- Act as the main contact for auditors, tax authorities, banks, and external advisors, and keep up with changes in tax and accounting legislation.
**Required Experience and Qualifications:**
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including 2–3 years in a senior or lead role such as Accounting Manager.
- SCAAK certification; ACCA or equivalent is a strong advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of Kosovo tax legislation, Kosovo Accounting Standards, and IFRS.
- Hands-on experience with VAT, corporate income tax, payroll, and pension filings, including ATK's electronic declaration system (EDI).
- Proven experience with month-end and year-end closing, financial statements, and external audits.
- Strong experience with accounting software (e.g., Financa 5, QuickBooks, or an ERP system) and advanced Excel skills.
- High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- Fluent in English and comfortable using automation and AI tools to work more efficiently.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in a software or technology company, experience setting up accounting for a new or growing company, and experience with multi-currency accounting.
