Chief Mine Planning Engineer

We are looking for a **Chief Mine Planning Engineer** to lead underground mine planning and design activities at our **underground copper mine in Albania** . **Qualifications and Experience** - Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or Geological Engineering. - Experience in metalliferous mining, particularly underground copper mining. - At least **5 years of experience in underground mine planning and design** , supported by practical experience in underground mining operations. - Previous experience at a minimum of **two different mine sites** . - Practical site experience in mine development, blasting, loading and haulage. - Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, including Cut and Fill, Sublevel Stoping, and Room and Pillar. - Experience in production planning, underground development design, production sequencing and ground support planning. - Strong knowledge of the RMR, Q and GSI rock mass classification systems, with practical experience in implementing different ground support systems. - Experience in block modelling, drillhole data interpretation and ore zone modelling. - Advanced proficiency in at least **two mine planning and design software packages** , such as Surpac, Datamine, Micromine or equivalent. - Experience in developing and evaluating ventilation scenarios using Ventsim. - Previous involvement in, or responsibility for managing, a feasibility study for at least one ore zone. - Experience in setting and monitoring monthly production targets and reporting development metres and production tonnages. - Knowledge of production costs, budgeting and investment appraisal, with the ability to interpret key investment metrics such as net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR). - Proficiency in MS Office applications. - Good command of English. **Knowledge of Albanian is an advantage.** **Key Responsibilities** - Prepare, monitor and optimise short-, medium- and long-term underground development and production plans based on geological and geotechnical data. - Define ore extraction schedules, development priorities and production sequences in line with production targets. - Coordinate underground development design, ground support and ventilation planning with the relevant technical teams. - Plan the integration of new ore zones into existing mining operations and manage their transition into production. - Identify equipment and workforce requirements and plan the efficient use of available resources in line with production schedules. - Compare planned and actual development and production quantities, analyse the causes of variances and identify corrective actions. - Monitor production costs and expenditure against budget, including production costs per tonne and development costs per metre. - Work closely with the geology, geotechnical, operations, mine survey, ventilation and maintenance teams. - Prepare and present technical reports to senior management covering development and production performance, mine planning activities and key performance indicators. - Incorporate occupational health and safety requirements into all stages of planning and operations.
